Bandera crooner Charlie Montague VI is taking the national country music scene by storm, but hasn’t forgotten his hometown roots, recently playing a packed concert at the 11th Street Cowboy Bar on Oct. 7, 2010.

There was plenty of great bull riding action during Celebrate Bandera over Labor Day Weekend. The National Professional Bull Riders Challenge was held at Mansfield Park, with a great group of international and local cowboys participating.

The Bandera Bulldogs did not fare well against a speedy Devine varsity football squad on Sept. 3, losing 55-7 in the second game of their 2010 season.

The Medina Lady Cats handily defeated the La Pryor Lady Bulldogs in three sets of varsity volleyball action tonight in The Den.

(And in the above photo, she did get the dig, and that dig saved the point for Medina. Sweet hustle.)

The Medina Bobcats beat the San Marcos Baptist Academy Bears tonight in varsity football action, but the Bandera Bulldogs couldn’t pull a win out over the Hondo Owls in their season opener.

The class 1A Medina Lady Cats varsity volleyball put up a strong showing against the 3A Bandera Lady Dogs, but fell short losing their Aug. 17 match 3-1.

I had the chance to shoot last night’s Ranch Rodeo at Mansfield Park held in celebration of the National Day of the American Cowboy, and I can’t believe I’ve missed this event in past years. The team-based events are a blast to watch and there’s lots of cheering for the cowgirls and cowboys, especially those on local teams or from the dude ranches around Bandera County.
